Problems with Individual Music Video

A few problems I had with my music video when creating it was the clips I had weren't as good as the versions used in the video as Ian (the other camera man) had an anti shake setting on his camera when I did not so the footage he got was better as it was not as shaky as mine was so I kept in the versions of the same clip I got, due to the versions used being better. The clips that were used as well were a lot of mine as well so I couldn't change much of the video due to most of the videos being ones I had taken and the clips I hadn't used were little 10 second clips that were not the best quality due to either another member of the group being in the video or it was an outtake video or the quality was not that good because of it being too shaky for example.

I'll show an example of this below, I have other videos but the file size is too big to upload to blogger. I may re look at these videos and try to trim them down a bit.

Another problem was with the video in the middle, a clip I changed still has its audio when it should be muted so the song can still be heard over it the audio for the clip therefore, I will go back into the editing suite and correct this mistake.

Also I was not left with many clips I could use as opposed to the ones used in the video as the better shots I had were used such as the start and ending with Charlie (the main actor) walking down the road at the beech as that was my idea as a way to end the video so those same shots were used and the clips i was left with were only short 10 second clips that were either outtakes as it had another member of the group in the video or were too shaky to use in the second verse section which is in a montage style and some of those clips were similar to mine except better quality due to Ian having the better camera so i kept those clips in instead of making it look like a worse quality clip.

Individual Music Video

This is the music video I have created using clips from the group music video with clips I had taken on the day some of my better clips were used too such as the introudction pan shot where it starts looking at the field to pan across to the main actor as well as the end clip where he walks around the corner, a few of the middle clips are similar to the ones i have however due to when we were filming Ian had a better camera then I did so I've kept in the better clips as mine weren't as good. Also, in the middle I had a problem with the video overlapped and I had trouble trying to get the overlapped video to end at a certain point and it ends before the song does so I did have a lot of problems trying to edit this video together when I should of practiced around with Sony Vegas more before editing the video more basically however, the group one is better then mine due to it has the better clips in it as well as more time was put into it (a month of work something like that editing it). So I will need to practice and get used to using Sony Vegas better.

Poster Comparison

This is the poster I have created to go along with the group poster as well as the CD cover I made to also go along with the group versions, this is the poster I created, its awful basically seems I'm not that good at creating posters but I did try to get inspiration from the Sam Smith tour Poster.

I tried to go for the basic and simple design again with the poster like I tried with my CD cover which I kind of have done but overall my poster design is awful when compared to a professionally made one.

Poster Design

Below is the poster I have created, its awful I could have gotten and used a better image instead of the one I have used, I could have used a better font and font size to include more information and I could have chosen a better background colour among other things. I could have placed a better effect on the image I used instead of just giving the image a faded effect around the edge of it.

My Album Cover Compared to Others

There were two album cover i looked at when trying to get an idea for my own one as well as use it as inspiration and get a better idea of what it should look like. I used Sam Smith "In The Lonely Hour" and Olly Murs "Never Been Better".

This is the album cover I created,  I tried to go for a similar style as the Sam Smith album cover but keep it looking basic but good like the Olly Murs one. I think it looks alright, this was the best image I had of the main actor (Charlie Mossman) looking like he was deep in thought.

Sam Smith - In The Lonely Hour
I chose this album cover to help get a better idea of an soul, indie pop artist as for the group work we did one of his songs "Stay With Me" so it made sense to look at his album cover and it did help when creating and getting an idea for creating my own album cover. This album cover gave me the most inspiration as it look like he is deep in thought and the music style of his fits perfectly with the album cover of like a soulful, emotion song type. I tried to go for a similar style with my album cover of a deep in thought looking main actor

Olly Murs - Never Been Better
I used this cover as inspiration due to how basic and simplistic it is but it still looks professional and good. I tried to make my album cover look basic as well as the Olly Murs but keep it professional which I don't think I did as well maybe if I had a better image then it would look better. I think i should of used a similar style of text layout with it being both behind and in front of the artist in the cover but have the deep in thought look that the Sam Smith cover gives.

Album Cover

This is the album cover I have created using images taken from when me and the rest of the group went to film for the music video.

It took a while to create due to have a problem trying to get the text to look right on the image until I thought about having a sand effect around the text so it would look better placed on the sand next to the actor in the image (Charlie Mossman). I also put the image in black and white as the song is quite a emotion song and the image (I think) makes it look like a man and his thoughts so I thought the image looked better with a black and white effect on it. I think overall it's alright, I'm not sure about the image though I think I could have gotten a better angle shot and had a larger amount of sand around the main actor so i could fit the text in with the effect better and easier and I could make it larger to be more appealing to a viewer of the cover.

I also had a problem importing it from Photoshop into InDesign where the text and image would be really pixelated and I couldn't figure out why so this is the jpg from the photoshop file.

This is the album cover I have created....

Photoshop Practise Putting a Sand Effect on Text

When creating my album cover I wanted to try give the text a sand effect as I wanted to place the song name and the artists name on the sand next to the actor in the image (Charlie Mossman) so this is a tutorial I followed to help me get that effect on the text to make it look like it has sand around the text.

For my album cover I have put a sand effect on the text and this is the tutorial I used for to get this effect.
